The cities of Vienna and Bratislava, at a mere distance of 66 km, play an important role as a dynamic transnational region; they are closely related not only from a geographical but also an historical and economic point of view. When it comes to shaping the future of the two countries, urban planning, architecture and art will be crucial factors, which serve as interfaces and promoters of the new central European region that is yet to be formed. The exhibition New Frontiers gives an overview of the rich œuvre of young Slovak and Austrian architects, designers and artists. The aim of the exhibition is not to present projects that have already been realised, but the experimental character of the individual themes and the processes artists are subject to in their development. The exhibition intends to display the results and problems of artistic architectural work in a way that enables objective comparison and to document the young artists' heterogenic approaches. In order to stimulate the interaction between participants the exhibit will be complemented by colloquiums, lectures and parties.
